PAPER
Did this material appear in your dreams?
MY RITUAL
On one particular day i collected every piece of paper I interacted with, It resulted in this small booklet.
This practice made me realise how presence paper is in our everyday life and just how important it is. I challenge you to go a day without interacting with paper.
Nowadays paper is being more and more excluded from daily interactions, e.g. the movement from cash to card, letters to emails,
This made me think that I have to respect and appreciate paper more.
A LETTER TO PAPER

Dear Paper,
Sorry for using and abusing you so easily and readily with little care or respect. Look! I'm doing it right now, I didn't even ask for consent or permission. I'll be sure to next time.
My aim for studying you is to bring us closer together. I want to understand you, I want you to understand me. I'm going to make you, break you, tear you apart and form you into something new, I hope you do they same for me.
Your role in my life so far has been huge, I want to thank you for that. You've given me access to express myself in so many ways. When I was younger I would draw and paint on you, through out my education I would use you to obtain knowledge and keep secrets. Letters from loved ones come delivered in your depiction. You are essential to the everyday function and life of society.
Paper, you are used to build, destroy, keep things hidden and allow things to be seen, you aid in addiction and are the proof of every life. You area a reminder and holder of memories, folders of you are collected and created over life's. You are proof of life. When someone dies what happens to all their papers?

RITUAL 2
COLLAGES, CAN THE PAPER SPEAK FOR ITSELF AND MAKE A NEW ESSAGE FROM OLD CUTTINGS
GROUP WORK
we brain stormed on how we could colabativly work together while all using such different materials and methods of practice. We made the visual 'mind map' to help us communicate and visualise our ideas as a group.
The materials in our group:
-shiny things
-plastic
-wax
-paper

We ended up deciding we wanted to make a type of Ikea magazine, to 'present' our work in a professional style. This way we could all work using our own materials and create a set for the magazine.
A collaboration with DALL-E
experimenting with watercolour paper and various water colour paints. I liked to watch the paint react to the varying amounts of water I was working with.
Tiny Exhibition :)
Here I started to cut out random bits of books, magazine, leaflets and advertisement, and blank paper to see if the paper could convey a message through this act of destruction and rebuilding. This way of working has been part of my common practice for a while as I love not knowing what I am going to get out of it. It is a game of letting the paper speak for its self and it leading me in the creative process.
I made these two collages.
I see this practice as a ritual as for me it is very meditative and allows me to get a glimpse of my my subconscious as I believe that is what my inner self connects with the text and images on the paper and that is where the message come from.
